NEW BOTSOC COUNCIL
AND AGM RESOLUTIONS
Dear valued BotSoc member,
If you managed to join us on Saturday morning, 1 July, for our online Annual General Meeting, thank you!
We hope you enjoyed a snapshot on our work over the past year, including updates on the many programmes we’re involved with. Many of our incredible partners also shared their gratitude to BotSoc members, for your input and help in protecting our indigenous plants in the year.
As was mentioned during the AGM, you ARE BotSoc!
If you missed our AGM, then take a minute to check out our digital, interactive 2022/23 Annual Report. Enjoy the highlights from the last year here, and see how as BotSoc, we’re making an incredible, positive difference for our plant world.
Our AGM discussions and voting results
We had many discussions regarding some of the resolutions put forward at the AGM. We’re grateful to everyone involved for the professional approach that you adopted, which led to insightful and good conversations.
Following the voting process, the Independent Scrutineer confirmed that Resolutions 1-7 were all passed. Resolution 6 and Member Resolution 1 were combined as one resolution on which members could vote in favour of or against the resolution.
Member Resolutions 2 & 3 were withdrawn by the proposer.
Meet our new BotSoc Council
Congratulations to our new Council on your election. Kyra Lunderstedt was re-elected as Council Chair, and Murray Barnetson was re-elected as Treasurer – both in uncontested elections.
Our Council members for 2023/24 are: Frank Webb, Rob Soutter, Hedwig Slabig, Mahlogonolo Sehukhune and Kathleen Smart.
We’re also incredibly grateful to our outgoing Council members for your support over the past year. These members are: Charles Stirton, Michele Hofmeyr, Sabelo Lindani and Clinton Carbutt.
